Partners Teuton Resources (TUO-V) and Minvita Enterprises (MVE-V) report encouraging results from drilling at their jointly held Clone gold property near Stewart, B.C.
The partners have completed 3,880 metres in 33 holes in the first phase of the program, and notable intersections were encountered in eight of the 12 holes assayed to date. These include a significant 30-metre interval of the S-2A zone between a depth of 100 and 130 metres grading 12.32 grams gold per tonne and 0.09% cobalt (including 5 metres grading 61.62 grams gold and 0.31% cobalt) in hole 96-18.
The partners are systematically testing a series of high-grade, sub-parallel, shear-controlled, vein and stockwork structures identified last fall by extensive trenching and an initial 13 shallow drill holes.
Based on observations from surface mapping and drilling to date, both the S and H structures vary in thickness downdip and along strike, with the best values concentrated in zones of dilation.
The first 12 holes of the 1996 program were drilled from three pad areas southeast of the 1995 drill holes. Drilling from the first two pads tested both the H and S zones, while the third pad was sited closer to the 1995 drilling, northeast of the S-2A zone, and tested only the H zones.
Collared on pad 1, hole 15 intersected the S-2A zone, cutting a 5.5-metre interval at a depth of 73-78.5 metres grading 6.29 grams gold (including 1.5 metres grading 15.12 grams gold and 0.07% cobalt), and a 1.5-metre interval at 99-100.5 metres grading 8.44 grams gold and 0.26% cobalt.
Holes 14 and 16 were also collared from pad 1 and intersected the H-1 zone.
Hole 14 returned 1 metre grading 25.32 grams gold and 0.01% cobalt from 40-41 metres, while hole 16 intersected 6 metres averaging 2.79 grams gold (including a 1.5-metre interval grading 6.28 grams) from 14.5 to 20.5 metres.
The previously mentioned hole 18 was drilled from pad 2. Holes 17 and 19 were drilled above and below the 30-metre-wide intercept and encountered narrower, sub-economic intervals of S-type mineralization. Hole 19, however, cut 2 metres of the H-1 zone from 11 to 13 metres grading 9.13 grams gold (including a 1-metre interval of 13.22 grams).
Holes 23, 24 and 25 tested the H-1 zone from the third pad. Hole 23 intersected 1.5 metres of 28.83 grams gold at 27.5-29 metres and 1 metre of 17.26 grams gold at 40-41 metres.
Hole 24 hit 1 metre of 16.63 grams gold and 0.06% cobalt at 72-73 metres, and hole 25 cut 3.66 metres averaging 21.87 grams gold and 0.08% cobalt (including a 0.59-metre interval grading 80.32 grams gold and 0.2% cobalt.
A second phase of drilling will test the H and S zones along 500 metres of strike length and to a depth of 150 metres. Infill drilling will concentrate on defining the size and orientation of the high-grade zones of dilation.
Extensive trenching along the strike of the H and S zones has increased the core area to more than 1,250 metres in length. The zones remain open to both the southeast and northwest. Geophysics has further increased the scope of the area by defining additional magnetic anomalies and possible fault extensions.
