THE DIAMOND PAGE — Camsell Lake yields more gems

Further analysis of two kimberlite boulders, discovered near the Camsell Lake project in the Northwest Territories, has yielded additional diamonds.

Situated 140 miles northeast of Yellowknife, the project is held 32% by Winspear Resources (WSP-V), 25.3% by Antler Resources (AEE-V) and 42.7% by Aber Resources (ABZ-T).

The gems were recovered from two sample sites roughly 300 metres apart, in an area defined by pyrope and chromite indicator minerals.

The first site previously yielded three diamonds from 1.9 kg of sample material. An additional 9.5 kg of sample returned 35 microdiamonds and five macros. (Micros are defined as stones measuring less than 0.5 mm in one direction, whereas macros exceed 0.55 mm.)

A further 24.55 kg of sample taken from the second site yielded 75 micros and 28 macros. Five diamonds were previously recovered at this site, from 1.1 kg of material.

A program of geophysical surveys and diamond drilling is scheduled to begin in February 1997.
