In reading the editorial and letters pages of your Aug. 2 issue, it struck me that it was a pity you did not publish Paul Sarnoff’s article (“Canadian Diamond Stocks Can Be Dangerous to Your Wealth”). This would have balanced the bullish statements on Canadian diamonds contained on your letters page.
We have followed the Canadian diamond exploration play with interest from here in London and have published articles in our International Mining Outlook on no fewer than four occasions in the past 18 months. I speak with knowledge, as a geologist having worked for De Beers in Angola, where there are more diamondiferous kimberlites than the world needs for the next 100 years. I commend your editorial of Aug. 2, but a number of small explorers and uninformed observers should be cautioned for giving out misleading information.
