THE GLOBAL SEARCH FOR GOLD SPECIAL — Major General finds gold at Orion

Ongoing drilling at Green Bay, Nfld., has uncovered extensive gold mineralization within the Orion zone, reports Major General Resources (MGJ-V).

Major General hopes to find enough gold at Orion to supplement reserves at the company’s nearby Hammerdown and Rumbullion deposits, and then develop a long-range mining plan.

An estimated 2.2 million tonnes grading 2.1 grams gold per tonne occur in four stacked zones to a depth of 250 metres at Orion. Mineralization is found primarily within the Orion deformation zone in a thick sequence of felsic volcanoclastic rocks.

Major General is also exploring other targets in the Green Bay area, and, in May, started geochemical and geophysical surveying on base metal and gold prospects.
