A mining heritage theme park, which would house the Canadian Mining of Fame,
has been proposed for Cobalt, Ont.
Gino Chitaroni, whose family has owned and operated a tourism business in the historical silver mining camp for 40 years, says the multi-million-dollar park would be phased in over 10 to 20 years.
Ideas proposed with regard to the mining theme are:
the Hall of Fame, which convenes annually to honor new inductees but which does not have a permanent home; an expansion of the Cobalt Mining Museum; and a resource centre which could include a core library and geologist’s office.
