Tintina Mines reports it has started a 5,000-ft diamond drill program on its Massey copper property, near Sudbury, Ont.
The drilling will be completed by the end of February within a wide silicified shear zone, which Tintina says is known to carry gold. The company will also carry out a geophysical survey along a 24-mile cut grid to probe the shear zone along its full 4,000-ft strike.
Total cost of the program is set at $400,000, which will be funded entirely by Canacord Resources. Canacord can earn a 40% interest in the mining rights of the freehold property by spending $800,000 no later than the end of February, 1988. Tintina is operator.
Tintina President C. H. Franklin says that although preliminary bulk testing on the property in the 1970s showed it has an “excellent” potential for providing copper and gold- bearing high silica fluxing ore, the gold potential of the shear zone has not been previously evaluated.
