Toronto-based Paterson, Grant & Watson will assist in the compilation of the first magnetic database in China.
The venture, dubbed the China Aeromagnetic Mapping Project (CHAMP), will use high-resolution, aeromagnetic surveys to amass data in an attempt to encourage foreign investment in the country’s mining and oil sectors. Other participants include Britain’s Geophysical Exploration Technology, Texas-based La Fehr-Chan Technologies and the Colorado School of Mines.
The project, which will make use of the global positioning system, is expected to last 2-3 years.
