Trelleborg, Sherritt

Trelleborg, in partnership with Noranda Inc. (TSE), acquired control of Falconbridge Ltd. earlier this year. The company has said in the past that it wants to acquire more North American mining assets. Sherritt operates a nickel refinery in Alberta and holds interest in fertilizer operations.

Speculation of Trelleborg’s purchase first appeared in a Metals Week article last week which quoted unidentified sources. Trelleborg has neither confirmed nor denied the story.
