Drilling has begun on the Calarie joint-venture gold property, held equally by Tri Origin Exploration (TOE-T) and Delta Gold of Australia.
Work at the property, which lies 300 km northwest of Sydney, Australia, will consist of 1,000 metres of diamond drilling and 2,000 metres of reverse-circulation holes. The area of interest is a 7.5-km-long gold trend identified by surface exploration. Drilling will test anomalies identified by an induced-polarization survey at depths ranging from 150 to 300 metres below surface.
The 426-sq.-km property was the site of turn-of-the-century mining of high-grade veins that were eventually developed down to 175 metres below surface. More recently, a near-surface resource of 514,500 tonnes grading 2.16 grams gold per tonne was outlined in the vicinity of the old workings.
Gold mineralization at Calarie is associated with the Parkes thrust, a regional structure along which occur two small gold mines and a larger copper-gold mine.
