Tri Origin Exploration‘s (TRO-V) 51.1%-owned Australian subsidiary, Tri Origin Minerals, is launching a new exploration campaign at its flagship Woodlawn base metals prospect in New South Wales.
The prospect area contains the past-producing Woodlawn mine, initially discovered in 1969, and, in its day, one of the largest base-metal and silver producers in New South Wales. Overall, it produced 18 million tonnes grading 2% copper, 4% lead, 10% zinc, 80 grams silver per tonne silver and 0.4 gram gold per tonne.
The latest round of work is designed to define high-priority, massive-sulphide targets for follow up drilling.
Tri-Origin believes that significant potential exists to discover additional, large and high-grade deposits within the district, especialy considering the limited drilling over the past decade which was confined to prospects identified in the 1970s.
West of the Woodlawn mine, there is an interpreted continuation of the mine’s host rocks that extends for over 10 km through Tri-Origin’s tenement. Several targets with coincident electrical, geophysical and surface geochemical anomalies over several hundreds of metres in length occur along this prospective belt.
As well, the Mooneys prospect is a 2-by-3 km area that hosts coincident copper, lead and zinc soil anomalies.
