TVX drilling Ecuadoran play

A 300-metre-long hole drilled by TVX Gold (TSE) at its 94%-owned Pachicutza property in Ecuador yielded an intersection that averaged 1 gram gold per tonne over 171 metres. This included a 36-metre section that averaged 2.54 grams.

The hole was drilled into a hydrothermal breccia pipe with a surface expression that measures 1,000 by 500 metres. The pipe was previously tested, with several trenches that yielded assays as high as 3.5 grams over 55 metres. A total of 10 additional targets have been identified on the 11,000-hectare property. Three of these are brecciated structures found 500 metres south of the pipe and were previously trenched and sampled. The remaining seven are being evaluated.

TVX will spend US$2.8 million on this first phase of work. To date, the company has drilled nine holes of a 25-hole, 5,000-metre program. The program is scheduled for completion by October.
