Armed with $8 million from a recent financing, Twin Gold Mining (TWG-T) is gearing up for a major exploration program at its Torngat diamond project, on the east side of Ungava Bay in northern Quebec.
The junior recently collected 50 tonnes of kimberlite from five 10-tonne samples excavated from the 22-km-long main dyke system at Torngat. One sample was collected from each of the Torngat 1 and 2/3 dykes, one was collected from the potential strike extension of Torngat 2/3, and two were taken from the middle and southern portions of the newly discovered Kakivuq zone. Results are expected later this month.
With that program complete, Twin Gold is busy preparing to explore more than 46 dykes and 63 anomalies. The discreet anomalies were identified during a previous geophysical survey covering the 444-sq.-km property. The upcoming program may also include a large bulk sample.
Previous work on the Torngat 1 and 2/3 dykes returned more than 161 diamonds, including 22 macrodiamonds (more than 0.5 mm in one dimension), from 277 kg of kimberlite.
