With a view to advancing its Atlanta gold project in southwestern Idaho, Twin Gold (TWG-T) has signed confidentiality agreements with two companies specializing in bio-oxidation technology.
Atlanta, a former gold producer, contains 25% to 35% free gold in oxidized mineralization near the surface. The deeper sulphide reserves are moderately refractory.
Metallurgical testwork has shown that overall recoveries of about 85% can be expected using gravity recovery, flotation and bio-oxidation.
BacTech Metallurgical Solutions and BioHeap Technologies have expressed interest in providing operating expertise and possible financing to develop the refractory portion of the deposit.
Twin Gold says it is pleased to have two industry leaders interested in providing such expertise, as previous tests have shown bio-oxidation could produce gold recoveries up to 97.6% from Atlanta samples.
The deposit is known to contain reserves of about 1 million oz. gold and 3 million oz. silver. An exploration program is under way to test the potential for expanding existing reserves and resources.
Twin Gold also is exploring the Layuh property in south Kalimantan, Indonesia. Work is focused on a newly identified breccia body and associated porphyry-style copper-gold mineralization surrounding the breccia. Twin Gold holds an 85% interest in the Layuh property.
