U.S. REPORT Coeur d’Alene ups mine interest

Idaho-based Coeur d’Alene Mines (NYSE) recently acquired a 5% interest in the Coeur mine in north Idaho from Hecla Mining (NYSE). The acquisition increases Coeur d’Alene Mines’ interest in the silver mining operation to 45%. The underground mine is operated by Asarco (NYSE) which has a 50% interest. The remaining interest is held by Callahan Mining (NYSE).

The Coeur mine is estimated to produce about 2.2 million oz. silver in 1990.
