Total exploration drilling has reached more than 46,300 ft. in 131 holes at the New World property in Montana, project manager Noranda Exploration, a unit of Noranda (TSE), and partner Crown Butte Resources (TSE) report. Three core drills and three reverse circulation drills are being kept busy 24 hours per day at the copper-gold- silver project.
The companies report completion of a “baseline environmental plan of study” which has been approved by the Montana Department of State Lands and the U.S. Forest Service. The plan of study was undertaken in preparation for submittal of an application to the state for a hard rock mining permit.
In the Miller Creek area, two rigs are drilling both infill definition core holes and stepout reverse circulation delineation holes. The zone remains open to the east of the north end of the main deposit. On the southeast end of the main deposit, stepout hole 90-600 cut 25 ft. of 0.34 oz. gold per ton.
Among the latest results reported for the Miller Creek area: Width Copper Gold Silver Hole (ft.) (%) (oz./ton) (oz./ton) 90-489 15.0 0.31 0.30 0.64 90-492 15.0 0.37 1.28 0.76 (0.50 cut) 90-541 4.6 7.50 2.69 11.66 (0.88 cut) 90-600 25.0 0.83 0.34 2.57
A new zone was encountered in the Homestake Breccia Pipe target on Henderson Mountain. Hole 90-538 intercepted 0.64% copper, 0.29 oz. gold (0.18 oz. cut) and 1.08 oz. silver across 100.7 ft. (Intervals reported as “cut” have had all assays greater than 1 oz. gold reduced to 1 oz. before averaging.)
Drilling is under way at two other targets, Alice E. Breccia and T-Zone. Work to identify still more targets continues.
