Union workers on strike at Don Mario

Vancouver Unionized workers walked off the job at the Don Mario gold mine in eastern Bolivia. Mine operator Orvana Minerals (ORV-T) says mine management and the union representing mine employees are continuing to negotiate, but no agreement has yet been reached.

The company says the consequences of the strike on total production will depend on the length of the labor stoppage and the terms of the final settlement that may be reached.

The Don Mario mine produced 17,345 oz. gold in the first three months of this year, generating total revenues of US$6.8 million. Production comes from both open-pit and underground resources.
