Valuation methods to be outlined at CIM symposium

Valuation of mineral deposits and companies will be the subject of the Canadian Insitute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum’s sixth mineral economics symposium Jan. 17 at Toronto’s Sheraton Centre. Some 13 speakers will address the subject under the overall title “Back to Basics.”

“Surprisingly, there is very little in the way of comprehensive material available concerning valuations in the mining industry, yet they impact almost all aspects of the business,” says symposium chairman Don MacLean.

“This one-day event will offer a spectrum of different methods and users.”

Speakers include Jack McOuat, president of Watts, Griffis and McOuat; Chris Lattanzi, president of Micon International; and Donald Worth of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Luncheon speaker is Ned Goodman.
