Viceroy extends mineralized zone at Gualcamayo

Junior Viceroy Resource (VOY-T) is encouraged by further results of reverse-circulation drilling at its Gualcamayo project in Argentina’s San Juan province.

The 1,400 metre, 9-hole program was designed to test extensions to the Cerro Diablo anomalous zone.

Viceroy has completed a total of 22 holes at Cerro Diablo. Recent drilling has extended the mineralized zone by 300 metres to the west, along strike.

The total strike length of the mineralized zone is now about 1 km.

Mineralization remains open to the east, west and down-dip.

Highlights from the current batch of drill results are as follows; * hole 15 intersected 10 metres averaging 1.21 grams gold starting at a down-hole depth of 119 metres. This was followed by a 5-metre interval that assayed 1.29 grams gold starting at 134 metres down-hole. The hole was collared 225 metres northwest of previously reported hole QD-1 (136 metres averaging 0.94 gram, including 50 metres of 1.07 grams) and drilled to the south at an angle of minus 65.

* Hole 16 intersected 12 metres averaging 0.56 gram gold starting at the surface. This was followed by a 7-metre interval that assayed 2.12 grams gold per tonne starting at a down-hole depth of 28 metres. At 95 metres down-hole, a 42-metre interval averaged 1.26 grams gold and included a 6-metre intercept that ran 3.38 grams gold per tonne. Hole 16 was collared 100 metres west of hole QD-1 and drilled vertically.

* Hole 17 intersected 2 metres averaging 1.88 grams gold starting 9 metres down-hole. At 15 metres down-hole, a 6-metre intercept averaged 3.56 grams gold. At 55 metres down-hole, a 21-metre section assayed 0.64 gram gold.

Hole 17 was collared 60 metres northeast of hole 16 and drilled toward the south at an angle of minus 60.

* Hole 18 cut 58 metres of 1.27 grams gold starting from the surface.

Included in the intersection were 7 metres of 2.09 grams gold and a 3-metre section that ran 3.62 grams gold. Farther down-hole, at a depth of 95 metres, a 20-metre interval averaged 1.73 grams gold, including 9 metres of 2.7 grams gold. Hole 18 was collared 50 metres northwest of hole 17 and drilled vertically.

* Hole 20 intersected 33 metres averaging 2.49 grams gold starting at a down-hole depth of 75 metres. This included two 8-metre intercepts that assayed 3.65 grams and 4.68 grams. At a depth of 133 metres down-hole, an 11-metre interval averaged 1.2 grams. Hole 20 was collared 50 metres northwest of hole 18 and was drilled toward the southeast at an angle of minus 68.

* Hole 21 intersected 37 metres averaging 1.36 grams gold starting from the surface. This included a 7-metre intercept that assayed 3.59 grams gold. At 86 metres down-hole, a 19-metre intercept averaged 0.58 gram gold. Hole 21 was collared 200 metres west of hole 20 and drilled toward the south at an angle of minus 50.

* Hole 22 intersected 28 metres averaging 1.76 grams gold starting at a down-hole depth of 99 metres. This included a 4-metre interval of 2.94 grams gold and was followed by an 11-metre interval of 2.94 grams. Hole 22 was collared between holes 20 and 21 and was drilled toward the southeast at an angle of minus 50.

Viceroy says the mineralized intervals encountered in holes 15, 16, 18 and 20 were contained in broader zones of low-grade mineralization.

The low-grade mineralization in hole 15 averaged 0.45 gram gold per tonne over 202 metres, whereas, in hole 16, it averaged 0.64 gram gold over 140 metres. Low-grade mineralization in hole 18 assayed 0.99 gram gold over 155 metres, while in hole 20 it averaged 0.78 gram gold over 150 metres.

A second-phase, helicopter-supported diamond drill program is to begin in March. The US$2-million program will consist of two rigs and will focus on widely spaced infill drilling along the eastern portion of the mineralized zone. The program will also test the down-dip extension of the Cerro Diablo zone along its entire strike length.

Viceroy also plans to twin two previously drilled reverse-circulation holes in order to confirm gold grades.
