Viceroy Resource (VOY-T), eager to test-drive a new gold property in the Argentine Andes, has scheduled drilling for late August.
The property, called Gualcamayo, is underlain by limestones that are, in turn, crosscut by granitic porphyry intrusions. Previous operators defined a small gold resource in skarns surrounding a porphyry complex.
Surface samples in a defile between two peaks showed an average grade of 1.7 grams gold per tonne over a length of 850 metres. Smaller trenches at higher altitudes, more sparsely sampled, had grades of 2.2 grams per tonne averaged over 75 metres, and 3 grams averaged over 80 metres.
Viceroy has acquired a 60% interest in the Minera Argentinas joint venture from IMA Resource (IRU-V) and Oro Belle Resources (ORS-V). The remainder of the project, situated in the Argentine border province of San Juan, is held by Mincorp, itself a joint venture of Minorco and Argentine industrial conglomerate Perez.
