ValOre Metals (TSXV: VO) uses AI to speed up discovery at its Pedra Branca platinum-group metals resource in northeastern Brazil, CEO Jim Paterson said.
ValOre plans to use advanced AI by VRIFY to boost its success. In 2019, the company doubled the Pedra Branca inferred resource to 63.6 million tonnes, grading 1.08 grams per tonne palladium, platinum and gold (2PGE plus gold), totalling 2.2 million oz. in 2022. That’s up from 27.2 million tonnes at 1.22 grams 2PGE plus gold for 1.1 million oz. in 2019.
“We’re using AI to look through a mountain of data that we’ve generated and historical operators have generated over the last several decades,” Paterson said during a January industry event in Vancouver.
This tech-driven method uses years of old and new data. It opens up new exploration targets, according to Paterson. It lays the groundwork for future metallurgical milestones in Brazil’s mining-friendly setting, the executive noted.
