Drilling by partners
The 26-hole, 2,700-metre campaign tested several electromagnetic conductors within four zones: MHY, Nourricier Noir, Houliere and Duhamel. The zones are in the northern and eastern sections of the Lac St. Jean anorthositic suite.
Twenty holes intersected massive-to-semi-massive sulphides in an intrusive complex composed mainly of anorthosite, gabbro, troctolite, olivine gabbro and pyroxenite.
Most of the drilling targetted the MHY zone. Highlights include: 10.2 metres of 0.84% nickel, 0.5% copper and 0.1% cobalt in hole 8; 5.9 metres of 0.9% nickel, 0.66% copper and 0.12% cobalt in hole 9; and 4.5 metres of 1.15% nickel, 0.56% copper and 0.15% cobalt in hole 10.
Similar grades over shorter lengths were found in the three remaining zones. Follow-up drilling is planned for the first half of 2001.
