Web-based system wins award

CLAIMaps, an online mining information system developed by the Ontario government, has won a Canadian Information Productivity Award. The award was presented recently in Toronto.

Created by the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, the CLAIMaps system provides continuous online access to digitized maps. Industry and the public alike have access to a large amount of mining land information, including the location of more than 185,000 active mining claims. The information is free and updated daily.

“Ontario is in constant competition with jurisdictions around the world for exploration investment,” says Northern Development Minister Richard Bartolucci. “This system provides international clients with up-to-date information and allows them to make informed investment decisions.”
