A new charging unit for recharging battery-powered mining equipment is now available from Rebuilders Inc. of Fairmont, W. Va. The skid-mounted model 1,300 charger operates on 480/575 volts ac. The charger is designed to be modified economically and can be produced and delivered quickly, the company says. An Integrated Dredge
R.A. Hanson Co. (rahco) has made a significant step forward in dredging efficiency.
The Spokane, Wash.-based company has designed a dredging unit that combines both a bucket wheel and bucketline on one dredge to simultaneously mine both overburden and paydirt from a placer deposit at a rate of 12 million cu m per year. The dredge will produce gold with operating costs below $100(us) per oz in placer deposits with grades as low as 130 mg gold per cu m, according to Martin Col of rahco.
The company has agreed to build the dredge for a gold mining project on the Grey River near Greymouth, New Zealand. Production is expected to start in the second quarter of 1989. The property is being developed jointly with Giant Resources of Australia.
The continuous bucketline dredge was originally developed in New Zealand in the late 1800s.
