Canadian Scale of Sudbury, Ont. is marketing a new electronic device that measures the amount of material on a conveyor belt with an accuracy of 95% to 98%.
Called Kilo-wate, the unit measures the electrical energy used to lift the material, subtacts the energy lost to friction and translates the result into tons and tons per hour. It works best on conveyors with a vertical lift of more than 15 ft where the loaded current exceeds the empty current by 20%.
Features include a 6-digit readout, rate meter reading directly in tons per hour, 24-hour circle chart recorder, and metre relay equipment for feeder control.
