WHAT’S NEW The Tools of Automation Hydraulic Shovel

Harnischfeger Corp. of Milwaukee, Wis., has built a heavy hydraulic shovel which runs on a P&H undercarriage.

Called the P&H 1200B, the new shovel has a gross operating weight of 400,000 lb and can deliver a crowd force of 187,390 lb as well as a breakout force up to 138,390 lb, the company says.

An improved hydraulic cooling system has increased cooling capacity by 70% over previous models. The system is now housed in a separate cooling compartment.

The company’s hydraulic oil filter system has also been improved so that it screens out smaller particles. The crawler frame carries a 10,000-hr, or 4-year, warranty.
