WHAT’S NEW The Tools of Automation Low-profile Raisebore Drill

The Robbins Co. of Kent, Wash., has built a new, low-profile raisebore machine.

Called the 97RL-DC, it incorporates an offset gear train, an underhung motor design and telescoping cylinders. Similar to other Robbins designs, it also takes advantage of a floating swivel drivebox and a single electrical cabinet. The first unit will be delivered sometime this year to the Ashanti gold mine in Ghana to bore raises 3.65 m in diameter.
