Yellowjack drills Katie claims

An exploration program by Yellowjack Resources (VSE) is under way to test several previously outlined copper-gold zones on the Katie claims near Salmo, in southern British Columbia.

The first hole of the 15,000-ft. drill program returned 265 ft. grading 0.25% copper and 0.009 oz. gold per ton (from 148-413 ft.), which includes 118 ft. grading 0.36% copper and 0.01 oz. gold.

This hole was drilled to follow up a 1991 hole drilled on the 17 zone which returned 222 ft. grading 0.32% copper and 0.009 oz. gold. More drilling of the 17 zone is planned.

Planned next is further testing of the Main zone, where the bulk of previous drilling was focused. The program on the West zone will test an area of high geophysical and geochemical anomalies.

Previous work on the Katie claims was carried out by Noranda Exploration on behalf of Hemlo Gold Mines (TSE) and Brenda Mines (TSE), which together have a 51% interest.

The Katie claims were once part of the Salmo joint venture (a large land package involving Hemlo, Brenda and Yellowjack), but they became a separate joint venture earlier this year when Hemlo and Brenda elected not to participate in ongoing exploration of the Katie claims.

Because of this development, Yellowjack will have increased its interest in the Katie claims to about 57% from 49% once the current program is complete. Ongoing work will be applied toward further increasing this interest.
