Young-Shannon drilling in northeastern Ontario yields strong gold intercepts

Encouraging results from a winter 1996 drill program on its namesake gold property in northeastern Ontario have Young-Shannon Gold Mines (YSG-V) drilling once again.

The company has been exploring the Chester Twp. property, situated 65 km south of Timmins, intermittently since the early 1930s.

Results of the winter program include: 21.4 ft. grading 1.28 oz. gold per ton; 6.4 ft. grading 2.71 oz.; 4.3 ft. grading 5.41 oz.; 4.6 ft. grading 0.91 oz.; and 3.3 ft. grading 0.89 oz.

Prior to the winter program, Young-Shannon outlined reserves of 1.1 million tons of 0.2 oz. on the C zone, and a drill-indicated resource of 695,787 tons at 0.34 oz. on the C-Prime zone.

The company has completed the first deep hole of the new drilling program, which is designed to test extensions of the C-Prime zone at depth, as well as newly discovered zones.
