Canadian law firm Fasken Martineau is merging with Johannesburg-based Bell Dewar.
Fasken says the merger will create one of the largest law firms operating in Africa, where it already had a presence, and will give the company the largest international footprint of any Canadian-based law firm.
Integrated operations are expected by February 2013. Bell Dewar’s current managing partner Blaize Vance will become the regional managing partner for Africa in a newly consolidated Johannesburg office.
