TSX Venture Exchange September 26 – October 2

Modest price gains in gold and silver spurred some investor confidence over the Sept 26-Oct. 2 trading session, prompting a 28.05-point advance on the junior mining dominated S&P-TSX Venture Composite Index, to 2,453.81. Daily trading volumes over the week averaged 50 million shares.

Market pulse continued on a bearish trend, with a meagre 18 juniors rising to new 52-week highs on the session while 61 explorers sank to yearly lows.

Plexmar Resources regained its top-trader position with over 21 million shares changing hands on the week, closing up three pennies at 70. Further high-grade gold was encountered in channel sampling at the Bolsa del Diablo project in northwestern Peru. The company also signed a letter of intent to acquire the Escondida project across the border in southern Ecuador.

Goldmarca remained an active stock, gaining 17% to close up 14 at 98 per share on volume of almost 12 million. Drilling at its Condor gold project in southern Ecuador recently intersected 284 metres grading 2.8 grams gold per tonne, including higher-grade intervals.

After having its cease-trade order rescinded, Iciena Ventures saw more than 10 million shares of volume to close the week up 4.5 at 15 per share. It announced plans to raise $2.5 million and appointed new directors and senior management.

Shares of Skeena Resources continued their rise, trading up 12 at 98 apiece on volume of 7.9 million. The company is expecting drill results from its El Corazon gold project in northern Ecuador shortly.

Tyler Resources saw a volume surge of almost 7.7 million shares over the week, gaining more than 25% to close up a dime at 49 per share. A resource estimate for its Bahuerachi project in northwestern Mexico reviewed 135 million indicated tonnes grading 0.49% copper, 0.05 gram gold, 4.3 grams silver and 0.009% molybdenum in the porphyry system.

Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines gained 37% over the session, closing up 70 at $2.60 on trading volume of more than 4.7 million shares. The company recently engaged an engineering firm for its planned development of the Bloom Lake iron ore mine in eastern Quebec.

Shares of Grayd Resource gained nearly 52%, closing at 85 per share on volume of over 1.8 million. Drilling on Grayd’s La India project in Sonora state, Mexico, intersected a 65.5-metre interval of 3 grams gold per tonne.

Shares of Oromonte Resources shed more than 41%, dropping 30.5 to close at 42.5 apiece on volume of 1.9 million. A tribunal ruling recently nullified mining titles granted by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Energy and Mines to the company on its Nambija mining project.

Birch Mountain Resources bounced off of recent lows to close the week up 46 at $3.86 on volume of 2 million shares. It announced sales and orders for 900,000 tonnes of aggregate from its Muskeg Valley quarry in northern Alberta’s oilsands region.
